Republicans Push 100 Bills to Discourage Voting & Sow Chaos (video)

Rep. Pam Powers Hannley on voter suppression by Republicans

Arizona Republicans are passing one voter suppression bill after another. In this video, I highlight a handful of voter suppression bills that were heard on the same day. Many more have passed either the Senate or the House. This is just the tip of the 100-bill voter suppression iceberg that is on a collision course with your right to vote.

The voter suppression bills range from Rep. Jake Hoffman’s attacks on voter registration to Rep. Shawnna Bolick’s attacks on procedures in the Secretary of State’s office to Reps. John Fillmore and Joseph Chaplik’s make-work bills that add layers of bureaucracy and regulations at the county recorder level — without providing funding to comply with the unnecessary new regulations. These bills represent layers of duplicative, unnecessary regulations and procedures that will sow chaos in Arizona’s election system. Fewer people will be able to vote in the future in Arizona. Thousands of people will be silently removed from the early voting lists and might not know it until they try to vote. Some Republicans want to completely eliminate the Permanent Early Voting List (PEVL) — which is now the EVL because there is no guarantee that you will stay enrolled as a voter.

Republican attacks will effect all voters — even Republicans. What is their end game? Whatever it is, it doesn’t appear to include voting.
