Black History Month in #AZLeg Starts with Anti-Abortion Manifesto (video)

Rep. Walt Blackman's anti-abortion speech

Rep. Walt Blackman used the first day of Black History Month to sharply attack women’s right to choose and to insult women. Blackman claimed that black women have been duped into having an abortion by Planned Parenthood. This is insulting to anyone who has suffered an unwanted pregnancy.

Blackman — like other Republicans — ignores the role of the FATHER in unwanted pregnancy. If men want to prevent abortions, have sex only with your wives, wear a condom when you don’t want to create a new life, and “just say no” to unprotected sex. Older men should consider getting vasectomies to prevent abortions.

Stop trying to control women’s lives and decisions.

To all of the men who back Blackman’s bill and have had unprotected sex with women they didn’t “love”, you are part of the problem, not part of the solution. I challenge all anti-abortion men to be responsible for the lives they create OR don’t have unprotected sex with women who are not your wives.

Blackman has sponsored, co-sponsored and/or voted for some of Arizona’s most extreme anti-abortion bills, including the 15-week abortion ban and the 2021 bill criminalizing doctors and patients. Blackman is running for US Congress against pro-choice Democrat Rep. Tom O’Halleran. You can listen to Blackman’s anti-abortion screed here beginning at 6:16 minutes.
