LD10 Rep. Kirsten Engel and I enjoyed a touching Memorial Day ceremony at the Tucson VA. What a lovely old meeting room!
League of Women Voters
More than 70 members of the Arizona League of Women Voters came to the Capitol in February to lobby the Arizona Legislature on behalf of ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). Here are a few ERA supporters from LD9. You could see the Equal Rights for Women sashes all over the Capitol that day. Waves of women’s groups and protesters have came to the Capitol to support the ERA. The Republicans are still stalling. They don’t want their members to be “embarrassed” by voting against equal rights for women. There are more women in Arizona than there are Republicans.
Teacher protests in Arizona
There have been weekly Red for Ed protests at the state Capitol.

Seventh grade English teacher Wendy Nogami (second from right) invited me to shadow her for a day. I have a delightful experience, thanks to Wendy, Principal Chad Miller, the rest of the staff and the students. I was ver impressed with FWJH. Go, Mustangs. I am open to other school field trips, BTW.

Thousands marched to end gun violence in Tucson. I was on the state with gun violence survivors and elected officials at the rally on the UA Mall. Here, former Congressman Ron Barber and Roxanna Green, survivors of the Tucson mass shooting at the Safeway, embrace.

Local First Arizona
My husband Jim is a small business owner and a member of Local First Arizona. I have owned two small businesses in the past– Powers/Queen Associates and Wind Dancer Design. We support Local First Arizona. The Living Economy event was informative.

My hair has a mind of its own. It always does this on the day before a haircut— shift from oddly lumpy and unmanageable to the somewhat-cool-but-disheveled look. You can tell I am back in Tucson. #tucson #hairstyles #wavyhair #grandma
